I like cherries very much, but not all of them, only those which are big, red and mouth-watering with a sweet and sour taste (rather sweet than sour). Yes, I found them at Lidl in Cardiff. They are expensive, £5.99, or maybe not so expensive, since I found in the last few days a pack of cherries with £11 somewhere else. However, when I was in Lidl, even though I was in doubt, I decided to buy a kilo since they were looking extremely good and the taste was exquisite. I ate a big portion of cherries in the evening, which proved to be a delicious dinner. However, in Tesco, where cherries are very expensive, £2 for 200 gr, I found strawberries with £3 for a kilo, the casseroles with the UK flag on them, which were delicious, sweet and aromatic. On the other hand, I have to admit that I haven’t been at the market yet, only at the supermarket.

The benefits of cherries and strawberries

I will give you some information about their benefits, not only about their prices and tastes.

They have only a few calories, 38 each 100 grams of cherries and 27 each 100 grams of strawberries, which makes them perfect for people who diet. Also, they are both diuretic and detoxifying fruits, which makes them good for other health problems as well. Moreover, the cherry tails tea is even more efficient and is a good natural remedy.
Both fruits contain chlorogenic acid, which prevents stomach cancer and can contribute to the improvement of biliary secretion, therefore helping you eliminate the uric acid. Thanks to this, they are recommended for those who suffer of gout.
Each 100 grams of strawberries contain 90% water, 5,5 % sugar, 28 mg of phosphorus, 1.6 mg of fibres and 0,1 mg of zinc, which makes them good for slowing down the aging processes, as well as for toning and remineralizing the body.
Thanks to their low quantity of sugar, the strawberries can be consumed by people who have diabetes in a moderate quantity. Also, the fibres that they contain are helpful in lowering bad cholesterol (LDL).
The cherries contain a great quantity of potassium (229 g %), 30 mg of calcium, as well as phosphorus, B vitamins complexes, vitamin C and vitamin A, which is good for eyesight and skin.
However, I heard that that the bitter cherries contain even more antioxidant and anticancer substances.
